# Plans & billing

> Bookbag's plans — Free, Hobby, Standard, Pro, and Enterprise — and how the credits model works: a monthly credit allotment per plan, usage tracking, and auto-recharge.

Bookbag billing is built around **credits**. Each AI reply consumes credits based on the model it uses, and every plan includes a monthly credit allotment. Plans also set your limits — agents, data sources, team seats — and which channels and features you can use.

> **INFO:** See the credits model in depth in [Credits & usage](/docs/agents/credits), and the current prices on the [pricing page](/pricing).

## The plans

Bookbag offers five plans, from a free tier for trying things out to Enterprise for high-volume teams:

| Plan | Monthly credits | Agents | Seats | Highlights |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | 100 | 1 | 1 | Website widget + API. Try Bookbag end to end at no cost. |
| Hobby | 2,000 | 2 | 1 | Adds Slack & email channels and removes Bookbag branding. |
| Standard | 12,000 | 5 | 3 | Adds WhatsApp, Messenger & Instagram, scheduled retraining, custom domain, and advanced analytics. |
| Pro | 40,000 | 20 | 10 | All channels, white-label, SSO, and advanced analytics for growing teams. |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | Custom volume, all features, white-label, and SSO. Contact sales. |

> **TIP:** Higher plans raise the per-agent **data source** limits too (from 10 sources on Free up to thousands on Pro, and unlimited on Enterprise).

## How credits work

A credit is the unit of usage. Each AI reply costs credits according to the model's configured cost, so cheaper, faster models stretch your allotment further. Your plan refreshes a **monthly allotment** of credits.

- **Monthly allotment** — the credits your plan includes each billing period.
- **Credits used (30d)** — how much you've consumed in the trailing 30 days, shown in the billing summary.
- **Credits remaining** — what's left in your current balance.

See [Credits & usage](/docs/agents/credits) for exactly what consumes credits and how per-model costs are set.

## Auto-recharge

To avoid running out mid-month, you can enable **auto-recharge**: when your balance drops below a threshold you set, Bookbag automatically tops it up by the amount you choose. Configure the threshold and top-up amount in billing.

> **TIP:** Set the threshold high enough that a busy day won't interrupt your agents before the recharge clears.

## Upgrading and checkout

1. **Open billing** — Go to your workspace billing page to see your current plan, usage, and the plan catalog.
2. **Choose a plan** — Pick the plan that fits your volume, seats, and channel needs.
3. **Check out** — Checkout is handled securely through Stripe; your plan and credit allotment update once payment completes.

> **INFO:** Billing actions (checkout, auto-recharge) require an **Admin** or **Owner** role. The self-hosted open-source build runs with unlimited local entitlements and no payment.
